The Pearl of the Atlantic proves, year after year, the most brilliant jewel among all island destinations.

After consecutively winning numerous awards for Best Island Destination in Europe (the last of which in 2020), the Madeira archipelago is constantly renewing itself and innovating.

Madeira is a destination with an unusual ability to surprise visitors, whether for its colorful and intense geography, the mild climate throughout the year and the entertainment and fun opportunities that, those who visit, swear to be constant, the truth is that the most tropical island in Europe is already on any traveler’s bucket list.

Sketch Tour Reload Portugal kicked off in April with a 5-day trip to Madeira Island. The team of Turismo de Portugal and the guest artists (two sketchers and a writer) visited places such as:

• The Ribeiro Frio Natural Park, an integral part of the Laurissilva Forest;
• Levada dos Balcões
• Fanal
• Fajã dos Padres
• Porto Moniz, Seixal and São Vicente
• Cruzes Museum and Bordal – Madeira Embroidery
• among many other must-see points.

On each of the Sketch Tour Reload tours, the formula is always the same: to combine the different experiences and perspectives of a foreign sketcher, a Portuguese sketcher and the literary talent of a Portuguese writer.

Our creative team for the Madeira tour was made up of three people:

• French sketcher Charline Moreau;
• the Portuguese sketcher Luís Araújo;
• the Portuguese writer Marcela Costa.
